You had your chance, now it's broke

The federal government’s track record with social programs is dismal at best. The US Postal Service was established in 1775. After 234 years of trying to get it right, it is now broke. Social Security was established in 1935. After 74 years of trying to get it right, it is now broke. Fannie Mae, established in 1938, after 71 years of trying to get it right, is now broke. The ‘War on Poverty’ started in 1964 and after 45 years has never been successful.

Medicare and Medicaid was established in 1965. 44 years later that program is broke. Freddie Mac, 1970. 39 years later is broke. The TARP, STIMULUS, The Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009, all for naught. The ‘Cash for Clunker’ was a three billion dollar blunder.

With a 100% failure rate do we want to trust a government run national health care system? Some lessons are hard but this one borders on the ridiculous, not to mention that any sense of constitutionality stretches the English language well beyond intent.

Why indeed...

I’d like some answers. Why do we have generals if the politicians are going to run the war? Why do we need a government agency to run anything when all government agencies are fraught with fraud and budget abuses? Why would we want our federal government anywhere near our health care when all examples of that have failed dismally?

Why do we refuse to acknowledge racism when it is obvious? Proof is in remembering all the hoopla over the first Black president. Why do we refuse to acknowledge the fact that a white President would never be able to get away with what Obama has gotten away with? Could it be that racism had turned into reverse racism?

Why do we not have term limits? Why do we put up with the blatant lack of respect for the tax monies forced from us? Why do we have legislators taking junkets all over the world on our nickel? Why do we not freeze federal budgets and the number of staff personnel? Why do we allow them the pay increases, the health plan, the retirement plan they so humbly vote themselves? Compared to the benefits allowed our military personnel it is an abomination. How many of our politicians have ever died for our country?

Why indeed.
